The Pendleton Arapaho Trail blanket is an example of the classic nine-element design. The pattern evolved from the banded Chief Stripe and features three throws of three central design elements. This pattern originated with the Navajo people and soon was popular amongst many of their Native brothers including the Arapaho. The Arapahos were fanatastic traders whose homelands were an area from Minnesota to Colorado. . Carrying their trade pelts on a travois they traveled throughout indian country often trading for blankets and other useful goods.
